Do not confuse the number 2 in the title: OutRun - one of the oldest racing series. The first part was created by a team Yu Suzuki, for almost twenty years ago, for gaming machines. Released three years ago, arcade OutRun 2 and is still considered one of the best racing machines, a little later been released yet and the extended version with new tracks and a few modified rules of gameplay, it was called OutRun 2 SP. Our current client, OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast, is a version of OutRun 2 SP for home consoles, adapted from the British company Sumo Digital.
But that's because a catch: the arcade and console racing game you need to have quite different qualities. In the arcade you throw a chip into the machine, sit in a comfortable chair, choose a car and flying on the highway, trying to deal with the company's mechanics managed drifts, which keeps the gameplay OutRun 2. The entrance to the end, get up, and involuntarily exhale: Wow! If you do not ask to spend on a game monthly salary, the time soon to see how many different tracks here, how many cars and how the opponents behave when they are no one is watching. Just sit behind the wheel, you get five minutes of selected racing fun, get up and leave. Our score - nine out of ten.
| Artem Shorokhov: "The flavor and color!" | Igor, as always, very subtly noticed the line between a good game for arcade rooms and a hit for home consoles. And even the flaws (not so, between us, terrible) observed entirely "correct." Only here do not get to renounce the pleasure that gives OutRun 2006. Vivid graphics, great music, salty ocean breeze ... Possibly affect, lack of time to the frequent "attacks into the light", but having no Burnout, Ridge Racer, or, God forbid, Need for Speed can not be so easily and quickly relieve fatigue working day and give a little piece of happiness. After all, happiness - is when the hair in the wind when the speed of a hundred, when the palm trees outside the window and ecstatically screaming blonde in the passenger seat. All of this was - in the arcades. But it was not at home. Anyway - not at all. A flight (hour by hour) a little time - and it is already clear that the drift here is not the same as before, that collisions can be accurately calculated, the new route - buy a car - to improve. And even slow down your turn to another - sometimes more useful than the whip at him with his sword unsheathed. Believe it or not, OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast has become for me the best race for last year. The most frivolous, but the favorite. Here are just steering the gamepad is still no substitute.

PS2-and Xbox-version differs only slightly. Moreover, OutRun 2006 for PSP and PS2 - it's the same game that can use one for both versions of the profile of conservation (the player only need to occasionally flip it with a home console to handheld and back). For all the console versions come up with new assignments arranged in a number of special campaigns, and to earn "miles" you can buy new cars, new tracks and even music. But brilliant arcade game suddenly turns out to be unsuitable for many hours of chit-chatting one on one with the console, and the player will inevitably begin to notice heretofore minor flaws.
| Artem Shorokhov: "Catch up and surpass!" | OutRun 2 already came out in 2004 on the Xbox, and even achieved some successes - after all, the breed! Nevertheless, the schedule in the second part is not that, and the style is, limps - painfully civilian cars (as they like to call the Raven, "traffic"), crooked, and the peculiar series "cartoon" is not polished to a shine. Nevertheless, were in OutRun 2 (and "improved-augmented" arcade OutRun 2 SP) different modes and incendiary avtozadaniya not being able to dump it off as "outdated." So we are especially warm welcome the decision of Sega to include both of these games in the OutRun 2006 - look at the main menu!

And the right to drivers inhabitants - this God himself told him to drive in one lane and do not rock the boat. But opponents also behave sterile and characterless, glide along the road, without paying you any attention.Secondly, why all the roads suddenly become similar to each other? When you play on the machine, each seems unusual, individual - just because the paintings are arranged along the asphalt unique entertainment scenery. On the console feeling of novelty quickly disappears, and inevitably trying to find some sign turns, loops, long straight - and they are not. Half an hour later you will feel like you're driving on the same ring of circles. Thirdly, the machine. A dozen licensed Ferrari do not differ much from each other. Do not get us wrong, no one needs from an arcade racing realism on the level of the venerable simulation a la Gran Turismo. But when all the cars glide on the track, as remnants, you know: there is something unclean. Fourth, it ceases to satisfy the system of damages (ie, lack thereof). Predict the result of an accident previously impossible: the machine can otrikoshetit on the road without losing speed, or vice versa, without rhyme or reason to turn somersaults in the air. Furthermore, all collisions with opponents treats the game not fair: that whatever you do, they will only go faster, and you - only more slowly. Fifth, to operate the machine with a gamepad, get used to the arcade steering wheel, uncomfortable and unnatural.
All of these sins is enough to yours truly (which, mind you, in one breath was Burnout Revenge) disappointment turned off the console after the first hour of the game and vowed to continue to sit only for arcade OutRun 2. This race is designed for five-minute rounds, and not for the hour marathon. If you have what is called "catch a wave" (as did my colleague Artem Shorokhov), it will give you hours of pleasure. If not caught - will result in a waste of money. Be vigilant.

The so-called "endless" race not only awards for leadership instantaneous (the transition from the track on the road made an absolutely seamless - no podgruzok, no abrupt changes in the landscape) access to the next track, but also allows to choose the direction at each fork, so you can get to the finish completely different ways. Second - akin to mini-games. The victory on such paths is given not taken first place, and awarded a large sympathy from a girl who every now and then issues a job, like "well let down cars" or "I want lots of long drifts!". Believe me, collect coins, to circumvent the column dalnoboev, cut the ribbon and engage in other nonsense - interesting and fun. Although it goes, and not to all.
